Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim History: The Angels were formed in 1961 as part of an MLB expansion. Despite the efforts of legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan, the Angels did not win their first Divison Title until 1979. They would proceed to win the AL West again in 1982 and 1986. In 1996, the Walt Disney Company purchased the Angels franchise and the team was renamed to the Anaheim Angels. They struggled after the move but managed to pull it all together in 2002 when they won 99 games and brought home a World Series Title, defeating the San Francisco Giants in 7 games. Since then, the Angels have won the AL West 3 times (2004, 2005, 2007).
