New York Knicks History: The Knicks franchise started in 1946 as a member of the BAA. When the BAA merged with the NBA in 1949, the Knicks quickly became on of tee league's most successful teams, making it to the NBA Finals three straight years (1951-1953). After some miserable seasons and some successful draft picks, the Knicks ascended to prominence and won the 1969-1970 NBA Finals over the Los Angeles Lakers in 7 games behind the inspiring performance of the injured Willis Reed. They would again win the NBA Finals in 1973-1974 over the Lakers. The Knicks would then draft Patrick Ewing with the first pick in the 1985 draft due to their decline after the 1974 championship. Patrick Ewing would be a force for the Knicks, but unfortunately, they could never put together another championship team. They did, however, win Division titles in 1989, 1992, 1993, and 1994. They would put together good playoff runs but always fall short during this period. Since Ewing retired, the Knicks have struggled. Isaiah Thomas was named team president in 2003 and they have yet to find an identity since then.
